GE WR50X124 Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat 72°F

Maintain safe, efficient defrost cycles and protect your refrigerator from overheating damage.

If your refrigerator is experiencing frost buildup, inconsistent cooling, or defrost cycle failures, a faulty thermostat may be the issue. The GE WR50X124 Defrost Thermostat is a bi-metal safety switch designed to monitor evaporator temperature and automatically shut off the defrost heater once it reaches 72°F. This prevents overheating and protects critical internal components from damage. Replacing a failed thermostat helps restore proper defrost operation and improves overall cooling efficiency. Installation is simple—mount the thermostat securely to the evaporator coil and reconnect the wiring harness.
